The hypocrisy of it all

I've had it up to my ears in hypocrisy lately. First, let's talk about the Republicans. McCain chooses Palin as his running mate. Fine, a woman, yeah. But, wait a minute, why are the Republicans at the convention having to defend her? Let us list a couple reasons:
1. She stands behind the teaching of abstinence in schools. Her minor age daughter is pregnant.
2. She is an upstanding woman in Alaska. She is under investigation for abuse of office.
The hypocrisy is that if this were a Democrat, the Republicans and the Christian right would be all over this! Yet, she's a mother of 5, a fine woman, her daughter is keeping the baby and marrying the dad, probe? what probe? As a mom, I sure want to know who is going to raise all 5 kids and a grandchild. Are we, the taxpayers, going to pay for the nannies?

Shouldn't McCain have waited till the probe was finished? Oh, no, that would be too late. A smarter man would have gone with Pawlinty. But hey, I'm a liberal, what do I know? I think the best part is that the die hard Republican analysts already know it's all over for them. Open mics tell all, don't they? An article on CNN.com states that "Prominent Republican analysts Peggy Noonan and Mike Murphy became the latest victims of an open microphone Wednesday, caught after a segment on MSNBC trashing John McCain's pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate." Murphy states, mic on, "It's not going to work." Then Noonen adds, "It's over."

Hypocrisy runs rampant this year. My university teaches students, but is making it impossible or, at least extremely difficult, for registered student organizations to hold events for other students on campus. If I can change anything at this place this year, it will be that.

Then of course, there is the lifetime hypocrisy of Christianity. Need I say more?
