Maine and trees: Indiana?

I found heaven! My family found heaven! It is Maine!

I would like to thank the residents of that great state for keeping is so pristine and beautiful. It was very difficult to come back to Indiana. Patty summed it up Sunday when we ran to Kroger's back home for some groceries. She looked around at the landscape of factories (closed ones) and box stores and said, "We live in a huge parking lot!" She's right. We have never seen so many trees with houses nestled in the trees over beautiful hills leading to water as in Maine. Is it the fact we appear to be in a drought here? No, I think we have some serious zoning issues that need to be corrected. More green space and less brown space. It is very possible and the industrial complex can help.

Factories have the ability to plant trees around their buildings and parking lots. Newly built ones can use the big flat roofs for solar production or green roofs. Old, falling down factories must be raised and if not sold, planted for green space until it is. The population must take back its land and demand that the corporations make needed changes.

Counties and cities cannot afford to pay for this on their own. Laws need to change to make the corporation responsible for building on the land also responsible for its upkeep and dismantling if closed. If these laws are in place, they need to be enforced. It is time for the big corporations to stop running our country and for the population to take it back.

You and I are the only ones that can do this. We must contact our city and county administrations and demand change. Better yet, run for office!
